– Camp Bournedale Summer Camp for Boys

With a camper to staff ratio of better than 3 to 1, Camp Bournedale’s staff is composed of carefully selected sports instructors, coaches, health care professionals, graduates and students from the leading colleges and universities from all over the World. Each staff member undergoes an intensive interview process, which includes a thorough background check with State and Federal Agencies. Each Counselor takes part in an extensive orientation process run by Senior Staff prior to each summer. Our entire staff strives to provide our campers with the best possible summer experience of their lives. There is a strong feeling of community at Camp Bournedale, and everyone, staff and campers alike, becomes part of our Camp Bournedale family which helps to ensure a meaningful, fun and productive summer for all. View Our Photo Gallery.

Owner/Director- Arnie Gerson

My parents, Sam and Anne Gerson, purchased Bournedale in 1939. As a youngster I was a camper, counselor in training (CIT), counselor and then Director. It has been a labor of love for all these years. I attended Tufts College where I was quite active in sports being basketball captain and all New England in baseball. My graduate work was in education and I obtained an EdM in guidance from Harvard University. I was a teacher and high school counselor for seventeen years. After this I wanted to devote my full time to Camp Bournedale and have thoroughly enjoyed the journey.

We developed an exciting environmental center, a college retreat facility and we also host corporate activities in the off season. My primary interests are still sports and seeing Bournedale campers enjoy camp as a catalyst to develop into happy and productive adults. It has been an extreme pleasure to see not only today’s campers grow, but to see the effect camp has had on our Bournedale alumni who have become significant contributors and leaders in their communities.

Recruitment Director

Ben C. Davies has been a key player in the ongoing development of Camp Bournedale since he joined us from England in 1998. With a keen eye for detail, he works year-round planning and enriching the quality of the programs in addition to overseeing all staffing requirements. A graduate of the University of Plymouth, UK, he holds a BSc. in Ocean Science and Underwater Studies. He has also holds a Commercial Diving Certificate that he obtained in 1998 before he joined us to assist in Camp Bournedale’s own Scuba program. Ben currently holds the position of Waterfront Supervisor, a position he has held for five years, a requirement of which is the lifeguard training (LGT) and CPR training program he teaches through the American Red Cross. He is also the trip director for all overnight stays out of camp. When not devoting his efforts to camp, Ben is an avid rugby player, scuba diver and currently attending acting school in Boston.

Assistant Director- Darin Fabrizio

Darin has been a key member of the Camp Bournedale Full Time Staff for over twenty years. His background and interest in all sports be it water or land lend them selves well to his role as Waterfront/Assistant Director during the summer season. Overnight camping has been a part of Darin’s life since he was 8 years old going from Boy Scouts to Residential Summer Camps. Darin joined the Bournedale Staff during his college years as a sailing instructor and has been with us every summer since. He became a member of the year round staff in 1987 upon graduation and has been an active member of the Plymouth, Massachusetts community ever since. Darin, a graduate of Boston College with a degree in Business Management is the Chief Financial Officer during the off-season at Camp Bournedale. While not at his desk Darin enjoys spending time with his two beautiful Daughters and his wife. They are a true “Camp Family” and really look forward to every summer season at Camp Bournedale.
